If you’re looking for a totally awesome, totally unique beer event here in Portland, bierfiends Novare Res have you covered yet again.
Starting tonight at 6, Novare is hosting GASHAROO - a showcase of the beers of Allagash Brewing Company. 19 of Novare Res’ taps will be switched over to Allagash brews, featuring regularly brewed and rare selections. The full confirmed list of choices is;
White, Dubbel, Tripel, Black, Odyssey, Musette, Interlude, Fedelta, Victor, Victoria, Confluence, Burnham Road, Les Duex Brasseurs, Bourbon Black, Curieux, Fluxus ‘08, Hugh Malone, Lagavulin-aged JW Lees-aged Triple and Grand Cru (and possible additional goodies)
In addition to the fantastic draught list, Novare is offering an exclusive meet-and-greet with the Allagash brewers from 4 to 6 tonight. For $30 (not including tip), you get samples of all the beer on tap, a logo glass from the brewery, and two hours to schmooze with the “owner, brewers and lackeys” of Allagash. As with all of Novare’s events, I’m assuming Gasharoo will continue until the taps run dry.
If you can swing an afternoon off from work, you could do a lot worse than going to this event. In the least, get down to Novare before the weekend to check out the lip-smackingly good Bourbon Black - one of my favorites from this year’s Extreme Beer Fest.

Are you going to be there tonight Josh? I’m going to try to make it a little after it opens up to the public. Lots of Allagashes I’ve never had before! I’m taking a tour of the brewery later in the week, but I think this may be the more exciting event.
I’m going to try and get down there. I’m in Freeport ’til 6, but I should be able to make it to Novare after dinner. I WISH I could be there for the meet-and-greet, but it isn’t in the cards. Have fun on the tour - Allagash has an AWESOME brewhouse.
